A Reflection After The Inaugural Music Business Conference
It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 days since our inaugural Music Business Conference. It has taken this long to sort through the footage and relish in the wonderful memories
Here is the 2024 Institute of Music Business Conference Recap!
Held from May 31-June 1 at the Hotel Indigo Tallahassee and TNL Performing Arts Center, we brought together industry veterans and emerging artists for a weekend of networking, inspiration, and entertainment.
DAY 1
Day one featured a kick-off reception, an awards ceremony by the Women of Music Business (WOMB), and a fireside chat with Dr. Angela Moss Poole and Fred “DarkChild” Jerkins. Attendees also enjoyed a live painting demo by Michael Crowne and the first round of THE LOCK-IN talent contest hosted by the Institute for Music Business, JOURNEY, and Close Collective, to discover the next rising talent. After much deliberation, the panel ultimately narrowed down the acts to seven artists who would perform the following day.
DAY 2
Day two of the conference began with a networking brunch at the TNL Performing Arts Center, with a number of panels featuring industry executives and veterans from all over the nation. The panelists included host Dr. Angela Moss Poole, Fred “Darkchild” Jerkins, Tony Mercedes, TJ Chapman, Damon Stewart, Azim Rashid, Adrian Warren, Yan Snead, Derek Huggins, Meta Washington, Brett Engel, and Adrian Dickey.
The panel discussions covered a wide range of topics and offered attendees a platform to delve deep into industry trends, challenges, and innovations. With a diverse array of experts and veterans sharing their insights, these sessions provided invaluable knowledge and perspectives for attendees. THE LOCK-IN finalists performed, leading to the signing of singer/songwriter INA and Megan Eileen being crowned the winner.
Attendees left inspired and equipped with new industry insights and connections. We look forward to an even bigger event in 2025!
